No Covid Inquiry in Sight

NO COVID INQUIRY IN SIGHT

“More than a million Americans have died of Covid-19—over 300 times the number who perished on Sept. 11. With cases and hospitalizations once again rising, more than 450 Americans are still dying of Covid each day.”

Yet there is no high-level bipartisan commission established to investigate causes, consequences and lessons for the future as there was after Sept. 11. Don’t the families of those who died from or have become seriously ill from Covid deserve a thorough inquiry concerning this pandemic?

Apparently Pres. Biden and Congressional leadership don’t think so, although to their credit Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Sen Richard Burr (R-NC) have been calling for a high-level commission.

What is the reason for reluctance to move forward in this matter? It is probably the bitter political divide in the US, for example the fear of raising issues such as vaccine mandates. We deserve answers to the question: “Why does the United States have a higher death rate from Covid-19 than other wealthy nations?”
