U.S. Hypocrisy in the Middle East

U.S. HYPOCRISY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

U.S. military assistance to Israel and related US military operations in support of Israel since the October 7,2023 attacks by Hamas have totaled $22.8 billion. For the sake of comparison, this is more than a third of the total 2024 US budget for non-military aid worldwide. (On 10/13/24 the US announced that it would be sending a missile battery plus 100 US soldiers to Israel, adding to the cost, risk and level of commitment there.)

42,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza since Oct.7, 2023 from Israeli attacks. When compared to the 1,700 Israelis killed by Hamas in the same period, the figures are outstanding in their disproportionality.

While Pres. Biden preaches respect for human rights, Israel violates them in Gaza, in the West Bank, in Lebanon and in Israel itself, where Arab citizens have less rights than Jewish citizens.

The word hypocrisy comes to mind when we consider US policy in the Middle East, as well as complicity in the mass killing of Palestinians.
