GAZA UPDATE

According to widely accepted Gaza health ministry figures, at least 38,098 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed and 89,075 injured in Israel’s military offensive in Gaza since Oct 7, 2023. The destruction of buildings is so huge as to be incalculable at present. According to Israeli figures 1,195 Israelis, mostly civilians, were killed in the attacks by Hamas on October 7, 2023. The number of Israeli hostages currently held in Gaza is 116, including 42 who are probably dead.

As an example of the kind of atrocities that take place in Gaza on a regular basis, on 7/6/24 an Israeli strike on a school where 7,000 Palestinians were sheltering killed 16 and injured 50.

The routinization and disproportionality of Palestinian deaths in Gaza is appalling. Twenty-nine Palestinians have been killed for every Israeli killed or held hostage on October 7. This kind of disproportionality can only be explained by a disregard of one side for the humanity of the other. It threatens to make Israel a pariah state. And the US is complicit through its supplying of weapons to Israel.
