The Pro-Israel Monolith

THE PRO-ISRAEL MONOLITH

The figures as of 10/15 are approximately 1,400 Israelis dead and 2,600 Palestinians dead, large and regrettable numbers on both sides. The difference is that the Palestinian figure is likely to increase rapidly as Israel begins its ground invasion of Gaza. Unfortunately not surprising is the total US support for Israel, with no tolerance for a different or even a questioning opinion. For example, two members of Congress called for “an immediate cease-fire and de-escalation” and Pres. Biden’s press secretary called such comments “repugnant” and “disgraceful”. Biden himself has called the attacks against Israel “pure and unadulterated evil.” When pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups demonstrated in dueling rallies in Times Square NYC the governor of New York called the pro-Palestinian gathering “abhorrent and morally repugnant.”

Unfortunately, too many people have short memories and a weak grounding in world affairs, allowing themselves to be influenced by such one-sided and even childish pro-Israel comments. We must remember what such a herd mentality got us into after 9/11: the torture chambers of Abu Ghraib and disastrous invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, costing hundreds of thousands of lives.
